My name is Mrs. Sofia Seliger. You can call me Mrs. S =) I am the new 7-12th grade school counselor at South O'Brien Junior High and High School here in Paullina, Iowa. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Counseling, emphasis, School both from the University of Northern Iowa. UNI FIGHT!
I am excited to start at South O'Brien this year and get to meet new faces! My husband, Jason, and I have two (fairly) new faces at our house in Cherokee. Quinn, who is 2, and Keira, or Keke, who is 1. We are a busy family of 4 who love to play outside, read lots of books, and enjoy any & all things Disney!
As a professional school counselor, it is my job to advocate for students and families. In other words, I am a "problem-solving aide". It's my job to help students work through struggles & challenges, develop strategies to cope with problems, plan their future successes, and so much more! Teachers and school staff are some the best people and I enjoy collaborating with and learning from them as much as students. As a school counselor, I believe a school exists for the purpose of nurturing and fostering skills such as resilience, 21st century , and empathy for youth. These are skills everyone has, sometimes we just need a little practice & support!
If you need to chat or have any questions, please email me at sseliger@soswolverines.org. A link to my BookMe page will be coming soon!
Make the most of today. Go Wolverines!
Best, Mrs. S
