2nd graders read the story 'Picture Day Perfection' this week--a story about a boy who wants to take a bad school picture but ends up with his best picture ever! Since it was our school picture day too, students showed off what they think is the best school picture day face! 📷😀
Although it was too wet to go to the lake, the JH/HS students were still able to enjoy games this afternoon in celebration of Homecoming Week! #silverandblackpack #WolverineWay
Today in 5th grade science, we had a Trail Mix Lab!
We’ve been learning about mixtures and solutions, so students got to make their own trail mix and see a mixture in action. They had fun mixing, observing, and talking about how the different ingredients could still be identified and separated.
And of course… getting to eat our science experiment was a pretty big hit! 😂
A HUGE thank you to all the families who donated snacks! We couldn’t have done it without you!

This past Monday, 27 South O’Brien FFA members headed to the Clay County Fair to help with Grandpa’s Barn, where they presented information about agriculture to 3rd graders from Spirit Lake, Graettinger-Terril, and Sacred Heart.
Our members helped teach about:
🐔 Poultry
🦙 Alpacas
🐖 Swine
🐑 Sheep
🐄 Dairy
🐂 Highland Cattle
🐐 Goats
🌽 Corn
🫘 Soybeans
🌱 Cover Crops
And yes… it was a rainy day! 🌧️ But that didn’t stop our FFA members from making it a fun day for everyone.
For some of our members, this was their first time presenting in front of a group, which made it an especially good learning experience. They had to work with their teammates, keep the attention of a group of 3rd graders, and explain agriculture in a way that made sense to someone younger than them.
That’s the great thing about FFA — you don’t just learn about something, you get the opportunity to actually DO something with what you’ve learned. Our members stepped outside their comfort zones, practiced their communication skills, worked together, and gained some great experience along the way.
And judging by the smiles, questions, and energy from the 3rd graders, I think they had a pretty good time too! 😃
A big THANK YOU to the Clay County Fair for giving our members this opportunity and to Farm Bureau for providing tickets to get our FFA members into the fair! We appreciate your support of our students and FFA program. 💙💛
